Nordic Sustainability is a consulting company that helps companies and organisations develop and formulate green strategies and make sustainability part of their core area. The clientele includes a substantial number of large companies like Hempel and Coloplast, as well as organisations such as Global Compact Network Denmark, the Nordic Council of Ministers and Realdania.
− We help them develop strategies, implement them in the organisations and put them into practice in their work, says Senior Consultant Michelle Gordon
Sustainability and green strategies can be intangibles that are difficult to make tangible. So it is often a great help for companies to have someone like Michelle Gordon step in when abstract thoughts need to be translated into action. A fast-growing electronics company recently benefited from this when they had to translate the desire for a more circular economy into reality.
− Along with their chief designer, we created an index where we rated their products based on various sustainability parameters. Not only did they become more aware of where the problems arose in relation to their products – they then also had a tool for prioritizing the most sustainable processes in their production, which they have benefited greatly from, says Michelle Gordon.
The 28-year-old Canadian with an eye for sustainability is a highly valued employee, says Sven Beyersdorff, a partner at Nordic Sustainability.
Michelle Gordon previously worked at the Danish think tank Sustania and at The Interdiciplinary Centre on Climate Change in Canada, and most recently earned an MSc in Engineering (Sustainable Design) at AAU. This has given her a strong analytical and practical approach to sustainable development and innovation.
− Without the tools I acquired in my education, I would never have been able to participate in the development process in the same way and had the same understanding of matching sustainable models with the company's needs, she says.
